Up & Over Garage Doors
Up & Over Garage Doors
Up and Over garage doors are one of the most popular types of garage door designs, characterised by their simple yet effective operation. Up and over doors swing outward, and back into the garage upward when opened, hence the name “up and over.” They typically operate on a track system, allowing the door panel to move smoothly as its opened and closed.
Types of Up and Over Garage Doors
There are 2 types of up and over garage doors. You have the canopy gearing and the retractable gearing. Each up and over type has its own benefits and reason to choose.
Canopy Door
Firstly, you have the canopy door, which is ideal for openings up to a maximum of 8 feet or 2439mm wide. The canopy garage door requires less space for opening as there are no tracks running back into the garage. Canopy’s are made to be used as manuals and are ideal for single-sized garage doors. Both types of up and over doors open and close the same; however, with the canopy door, only one-third of the door protrudes from the garage while in the open position.
Retractable Door
An up & over garage door with retractable lifting gear opens along horizontal tracks that run back into the garage. Retractable is ideal for both manual and electric operation and are available in both single and double door sizes. They are available in made to measure sizes to ensure the most snug fit, with a maximum width of 5000mm.
